Middle School jamboree

Bonifay, Roulhac, Graceville and Vernon middle schools held a pre-season jamboree Thursday night in Vernon, with Roulhac facing Graceville for two quarters and Bonifay playing Vernon for two quarters. Roulhac and Graceville were scoreless while Bonifay defeated Vernon 24-6. Mardis Chisum opened scoring for Bonifay with a 24-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion. Vernon answered as Hunter Farrar hit Austin Brown with a 65-yard scoring strike. Bonifay’s Michael Pettit plowed in from six yards and out and added a two-point conversion to make it 16-6 Bonifay. The Blue Devils’ Gregory Martinez scored on a 30-yard run and Pettit added the two-point conversion.

Nine people arrested Monday

CHIPLEY -Nine people were arrested Monday in a crackdown on "high level drug dealers" by the Washington County Drug Task Force. The Task Force, consisting of the Chipley Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, said the arrests resulted from a narcotics investigation that spanned several months. The investigation included the sale of pharmaceuticals, “crack” cocaine and large quantities of marijuana, according to a news release. Suspects arrested were from Washington and neighboring counties as well.
